Charting the Globe. Baromètres internationaux

Les pays occidentaux ont longtemps été seuls à mesurer les opinions des citoyens sur les grands sujets de société. Aujourd’hui, les enquêtes sociales et politiques longitudinales se sont généralisées à travers le globe. Elles contribuent à une meilleure connaissance des aires culturelles, de leurs spécificités et de leurs évolutions. Ce colloque constitue une introduction aux principaux baromètres internationaux : Afrobarometer, Arab Barometer, Eurasia Barometer-World Values Survey, European Social Survey and Latin American Public Opinion Project-Americas Barometer.

Les intervenant.e.s présenteront les dispositifs d’enquête et les enjeux méthodologiques associés, mais aussi les résultats clefs et les dynamiques sociétales à l’œuvre. Ils s’appuieront notamment sur les outils d’analyse en ligne disponibles sur les sites web des baromètres, permettant à chacun.e d’avoir accès et d’examiner les données. La conférence s’adresse ainsi aux spécialistes comme non-spécialistes des enquêtes, intéressés par la comparaison internationale.

Charting the Globe - PUD Conference on International Barometers

Western countries have long been alone in measuring citizens' opinions on major societal issues. Today, longitudinal social and political surveys have become widespread across the globe. They contribute to a better knowledge of cultural areas, their specificities and their evolution. This conference is an introduction to the main international Barometers: Afrobarometer, Arab Barometer, Eurasia Barometer-World Values Survey, European Social Survey and Latin American Public Opinion Project-Americas Barometer.

The speakers, who are the Barometer's official representatives, will present the surveys and the associated methodological issues, but also key results and the societal dynamics at work. In particular, they will draw on the online analysis tools available on the Barometer websites, allowing everyone to access and examine the data. The conference is thus aimed at both survey practitioners and non-specialists interested in international comparisons.
